Art Brewer

The legendary surf photographer from Dana Point has been a great inspiration to me, and to dozens of other photographers since the early 60’s. He is really open and helpful with up and coming photographers, but he can also be brutally honest. He doesn’t beat around the bush when he smells BS… Art’s photographic approach is very well rounded and he is able to capture more than the athletic aspect of surfing — his portraits of surfers throughout the decades tell of an intimate tie into the surfing world. Art has known the Curren family for a long time, and it was great to hear what he had to say about Joe Curren and his talent as a photographer.
